Lingua Café (LC) organises various actions reflecting upon the politics of the intersections between human rights, digital technologies and languages. We explore these topics while facilitating conversations across cultures and languages. We level up innovative efforts from under-resourced communities that bring about stories of hope.

LC Panorama

Is a collective construction of the landscape of various efforts entwining language inclusion and digital technologies. Bring your community! By completing our short survey (15-20 min) and spreading the word about among your networks.

Who should take part in the survey? individuals, organisations, projects or networks dedicated to translations, advocacy, research, events, education, among others. The survey briefly encompasses the aims, activities, languages, geographies, resources, current challenges and opportunities.

LC Voice

A series of podcasts inviting contributors of the Panorama to dive deeper and connect efforts around language justice in the digital age.

Alex Mendonça from SciELO, cacu from Cooperativa Tierra Común, Chido Musodza from Localization Lab, Laura Vidal from FLCC / Curious Shapes, Mohamed ElGohary from IFEX and Global Voices, Subhashish Panigrahi from Rising Voices, and T from Obsidian Circus.

LC Educa

We developed our first LC Educa resource to facilitate these conversations around issues of language justice and digital technologies.

This edition was especially designed to reflect on issues intersecting with learning different languages in digital societies.

The resource is available in Spanish and English, considering groups with different levels in these languages and organising a bilingual session.

The guideline can be used in a 60 minute workshop, more or less, depending on the number of participants.

The LC Voice podcast is recommended to be used in advance or after the workshop to extend ideas and learning proceses.

The resource was designed with the support of Professor Mariana Spina and tested by students from the National University of José Clemente Paz (UNPAZ) in Argentina.
